Well, the first revision of our content-based site is now online (as you see from the new links at the top of the page).

Special thanks to Nathan Whiteside, who is responsible for the content portion of the site and has been working off and on for the last couple of months testing different site designs, writing content, and testing and retesting.

Special thanks also to the small group of beta testers who we asked to review an earlier version of the site. We received a lot of useful comments and criticisms, and we've tried to address each of the comments we received and make appropriate changes.

But I'm sure that there are still a few bugs, typos, errors, etc. here and there... please email Nathan (nathan at degreeinfo dot com) with anything you discover, and we'll get it fixed pronto.

And this is just the beginning. Lots more articles are in the works, and several other projects are in the wings. We'll be expanding the content section and the discussion board pretty soon, offering more focused content relating to specific degree programs, discussions specifically for distance learning professors and administrators, and a forum for those in the military. Any and all suggestions are welcomed, and can be posted here, emailed to Nathan, or sent to the general address ([email protected])

Thanks again to all our community members for your support, suggestions, and contributions!! We couldn't do it without you!

And yet not even one small, meager, pointer or reference to BA in 4 Weeks (the most comprehensive and effective guide to credit by examination on the Net) on the Links page of your revamped site. I'm verklempt. Though I may have declined your solicitations to formally promote and publish BA in 4 Weeks, that does not mean we cannot continue to work together in the service of adult learners, and towards the general advancement of distance learning.

    Onward and upward. Excelsior!

Good Morning, I was very disappointed to see that Lawrie Millers' BA in 4 Weeks was not included in the new site in a BIG WAY. I'm following her site closely for any new graduate programs. (2) TESC portfolio process information isn't totally on the money. I was there yesterday and found the scenerio very different from the one described. After I cool down I'll share the experience. Two facts I'll share about TESC portfolios. They are reviewed in many cases out of state. The horticulture area is shipped to Alaska, Collages must be turned into slides. Poetry must be professional in nature. That was three facts. Have a great day. Keep the good work coming. I' don't want to become a basher of any good works or TESC. I'll update TESC experience as it happens to save others time and money. Hille

    Link to Lawrie's site ...

    Howdy,

I'm a bit late on this one, but it smacks of a snub.

Lawrie's site IMO is orders of magnitude more useful than Tom Head's site (no offense). Jonnie's site, though useful, is a compilation of links to programs. Lawrie's site ... well, his site is a veritable tool chest with the instructions included.

With all overindulgence in this group and a.e.d in this degree mill and that degree mill and various tit-for-tats, most of Lawrie's posts highlight the mechanics and methods one can employ in finishing up that long overdue degree ... often in a more concise and granular manner than some of the so-called regulars" If you look past web site titles (hint), his words ring true because they have been wrung from experience.

    *shrug*

Perhaps you're taking Lawrie a bit too literally in his rebuff to be 'formally' promoted and published. You should add a link to his site.

Additionally, you may want to consider giving Lawrie a whack at writing an article or two.

None taken (I'm assuming you're talking about my philosophy and religion degrees list, which hasn't been updated since 1999--though a slightly updated and HTMLized revision is in the works and will be offered to Degreeinfo, assuming I ever get around to finishing it).

As far as Lawrie goes, I'm sure that if he offered to write articles, Degreeinfo would happily take him up on the idea.

    Cheers,

Just to put in my two cents, I agree with the other posters that users of degreeinfo.com would benefit from a link to Lawrie's site. It's very puzzling to me that this terrific resource is not referenced here.

Re: Re: Link to Lawrie's site ...

    Hi,

Sure... you're to philo and divinity degrees what Jonnie is to MBAs ;) . Both of those pages are lists that fill niches while Lawrie's resource is a professional looking, easily navigable web site that has the answers to a lot (possibly most) of the common questions regarding RA distance degree programs.

What's your opinion Tom? Should it be included at degreeinfo.com/links.html with your link and Jonnie's link?

I've skimmed through the articles at degree info. I thought a couple were good, a couple were a bit watered down (or so it seemed to me), and a few were based on recycled a.e.d. fare. Chip & Co. could show that there are no hard feelings and request to post a couple articles culled from Lawrie's a.e.d. and di postings.

It wouldn't surprise me if the silent majority that monitors this group has the impression that the regulars have a sand box attitude similar to the one they fostered in a.e.d ... only here, some of those same regulars have an oligarchy with the power to pull the plug on users, determine content, etc.

I don't really see a sandbox attitude; if there was a clique, Jonnie certainly was never a part of it. He just went on his merry way, gradually putting together what has become the most comprehensive directory of accredited DL degree programs available online.

    Cheers,

To all who have raised this point, rest assured... all of the moderation team and admin team are quite aware of, and very supportive of, Lawrie's work on his "BA in 4 weeks" site... and we've neither snubbed him nor ignored his work. Just have a little patience...

  10. Excellent idea!

There was no implication that either you or Jonnie were part of a clique and you know that ... but you didn't answer the question ...

Unless you know kumite, you may want to reconsider that proposition :)
