Thanking my lucky stars for air conditioning and power after the terrible storms and heat wave this weekend up and down the East Coast. Kudos to the kind and accommodating Best Western folks for allowing my husband and I (with two small dachshunds)to stay with them. They exhibited grace under pressure as hoards of people checked in yesterday afternoon. One fellow from NJ wondered what all the fuss was about, since they were without power for a week this past winter. I said that we Virginians must be sissies (neglecting to tell him that I am a Jersey native). Hopefully, the power has been restored, but there are reports that it could take a week or more...
Thank you, I am. Our power is on now, but there are folks who live on the 10th floor of an apartment building without power in our city, who are resorting to walking up and down stairs...to a hot and sweaty apartment... Plus, there were 12 people this weekend who lost thier lives due to the storm. A disaster such as this makes you appreciate what you do have....
