I come here to ask questions because my dissertation team is virtually unresponsive. I am stressing but no time to reflect on me and my troubles. I must focus on meeting the requirements for oral defense. I was told [although I already knew] that I must submit my paper to Turnitin. Is the school supposed to provide me with a Class ID and Class Enrollment Password? Turnitin is not allowing me to register without it. They provide three options for registering. One must be an instructor, a student or an administrator. I haven't received any passwords or any links or anything. I’d ask my dissertation team, but each member is on vacation, therefore, I have no access to them. My defense is scheduled for Monday, June 25 [they keep changing the date]. Please advise. Forgive any mistakes I've written here please, I just returned home [long drive] from meeting my chair, who left for his vacation destination immediately after our meeting.
Hi LadyExecutive, From my experience with Turnitin, the school will provide you with the log in material to submit your paper. I would speak to your school adviser or instructor to inquire about the requirements for Turnitin. Best of luck to you with your degree Hope I helped you in some way!
This has been my experience also. If it comes down to it, email me your paper and I will run it for you because I have an account.

Thank you, Randell...! I'd be embarrassed sending my paper to you because my paper is [don't laugh] 360 pages. I attempted to cut it down, but my team [yes, them again] told me not to cut it that I ought to parlay it into a book after my oral defense. Not sure what to make of that. I think if I cut it the content would be all over the place.
I am really sorry you too are having the same problems. I wish I had some good advice for you. My situation is so frustrating. On the one hand, I am so close to finishing that it would be silly to give up now. On the other hand, however, I have been hitting so many roadblocks; I wonder if all of this is worth it. I want to advise everyone who is entering the dissertation stage of their studies to think carefully of who they select to participate on their dissertation team. Better yet, go to a school with a track record for placing student first. Trust me, if they don't, you'll be placed in my predicament. I've made a ton of calls and sent out a ton of emails. Not one person has responded. Just one big mess!
Didn't think of that; although I emailed and called my department chair. No response from him yet. Thanks for the idea though. I'll send a quick email asking them to provide me with what I need to run my paper though Turnitin. Hopefully, someone would respond.
If you are still scheduled for the 25 June what I would do is prepare a one or two page hand-out and PP charts listing: (1) Your name, student ID. (2) Dissertation title. (3) A line explaining that you have not been able to access turnitin for lack of a password. (4) A statement that you promise submit your dissertation promptly upon receipt of a password. (5) Thank the committee for accepting late receipt of turnitin results. (6) Your signature Don't be negative at any time during your defense. And best wishes for a successful defense.
Update Thanks to everyone! The oral defense date has been changed, AGAIN. The new date is "the first week of July." They told me today that they're entering an LP for my grade; which means "little progress. " Bear in mind that for almost two months, they couldn't find my IRB application. It was only when I inquired about it, they made me reapply. I was told (yes, told) that I have to register for Summer 2 and that I must select an editor from the school's list of editors. They told me this, after I paid two editors already to assist me. I was specifically told by my chair, that it was my responsibility to locate an editor and I could use whomever I decided upon. Its really a big mess! I am lost, confused, depressed, frustrated, broke, and going through a pretty nasty divorce, at the same time. Thanks everyone for the support. You guys [and gals] are the best! Yep, my unseen angels!
