I caught this the other day. Very cool! Definitely brings back memories. -Matt
I loved Mister Rogers as a kid, and so bad wanted to live in a house with a miniature train that ran through it. Related to DI, he was awarded something like 50 honorary degrees in his life.
Bruce: "...he was awarded something like 50 honorary degrees in his life." John: And one official Poetic License. In 1973, accepting one of his honoraries, he joked that the degree was nice, but what he always wanted was a poetic license. So I designed and produced a big ornate one, and sent it to him . . . and got back a charming handwritten thank you letter, which also said that King Friday the Thirteenth was sending special greetings to my daughters (then 6, 6 and 8) who were quite impressed. PS: On the occasions of getting honorary degrees, he would often lead the audience in singing "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood."
I'm not ashamed to admit that the first time I saw that video it brought a tear to my eye. It was like being 3 years old again. Mr. Rogers was my favorite show (Sesame Street was number 2). Good Times.
