    I get enraged whenever I see an incident of Stolen Valor, such as this jackass;

    I'll be the first one to admit my military service was completely unremarkable; one combat deployment, and I came home without a scratch, except for some Gulf War Syndrome symptoms that have popped-up that I need to address. However, I'm still proud ef my service, and find no reason to embellish it.

    I've got you beat. I was wedged in between Grenada and Panama (12/83-12/86). Nothing happened on my watch so I may as well take credit for that. I still took the college money (Veteran's Educational Assistance Program and Army College Fund), used a VA loan for my house, and take the veteran's discount for my state park annual pass.

    Our veteran's benefits (I got my UMass-Lowell M.A. for free) aren't for what we did, they're for what we might have had to do.

    Unfortunately, this is very common. I've run across several people who tend to embellish a bit, and others just flat out lie. I had one national guard solder tell me a story that was complete B/S. I listened to his story as he described an injury he sustained down range and received what we affectionately call the "Enemy Marksmanship Medal." I won't get into specifics, the more he spoke, the more I wished I wasn't at work so I could slap the hell out of him.

    The situation is unfortunate, but it happens. I have an employee who was a special forces sniper with three tours. He never speaks about his experiences, and when he does, he only does with other combat vets and he is extremely modest. (Which is how it should be)
