  1. Posts into this forum initially focussed on comments, jokes, and references at least peripherally related to education, resume time bombs, and the like. But now we have posts about sad cops and Russell Crowe, and arguments about the Second World War and about George Bush's foreign policy... Perhaps it's time to establish an "Off Off Topic" forum for the utterly irrelevant?

Yeah, we need a place to talk about the best broadway show ever, Cats.

Well, we could change the title from ”off topic” to “utterly irrelevant.”

I love this forum because… because… it is just so unique and is primarily about education. However, we need some sort of ”off topic” area where we can post those… those… those utterly irrelevant topics that have nothing to do with education. We all have bonehead ideas that we have to fit in somewhere. The off-topic area is a good pressure release for our creative, bonehead ideas.

But yeaa, education is our favorite topic.

i think "off-topic discussions" cant get anymore obvious. Anything not related to Distance Education should be posted here in the "Off topic Discussion".
Anything related to Distance Education should be posted in the other forum. Now lets move on.

I think "Off Topic" about covers it. I consider most of the people here as friends that I haven't met yet, and no matter how much of a passion a group of friends can have for one subject, it's sometimes nice (and necessary) to talk about something else.

I think half the fun of this forum is seeing the wacky directions that threads take off to.

Good answer, Bruce! While I am sure that we are all distance education afficiandos here, it's nice to step back from acadamia once in awhile and talk complete and utter bollocks with our fellow DL colleagues. If we are going to start setting aside "special" areas for this kind of thing because somebody has a bee in his or her bonnet, then what's next, "off-off-off-topic forums" by country or creed?

    Darren.
