    Question,

My daughter (who we homeschooled), graduated this month from High School and will finish up her AA at the local CC in a few days...in fact she walks graduation this coming Friday. The Florida Dual Enrollment Plan is awesome! She has done an extraordinary job maintaining a 4.0 and taking 9 CLEP exams to get it done. I would like to buy her a small token as a graduation present.

She already has a class ring, so that's no good. Funds are rather limited so $100 or so bucks is the practical limit. I thought about going the silly route and just buying "Oh the Places You'll Go" by Seusse, but that seems too silly and unoriginal. So I thought I would throw it out for suggestions. Whatever it is must be available locally or via overnight...anxious to hear your thoughts.

This might be to "mature" but how about a nice pen (like a Cross pen) with her name engraved?

It's a great idea...in fact we did that when she was inducted to Phi Theta Kappa....she wants a Mont Blanc, but WOW the price! I like the way you think though! :)

Perhaps a fancy frame for the diploma? That is really not to "exciting". Maybe a night out for her and her friends to celebrate?

I'll take a page from the "b4 book of investing" and suggest that you buy her a bar of silver. Or maybe a kindle.

I will probably get her a frame...but after. Any other ideas, especially any book ideas? Something worth holding onto?

Kiz....the bar of silver would definantly be unique! :) Heck, she would probably like it.

I like the idea of a kindle. A book idea...John Bear's book on DL degrees...autographed (I am sure you would have to ask nicely) :smoker:

So far, I like the bar of silver and the $100 for her to celebrate with her friends.

I knew a young lady from a large family (10? kids) many years ago. Upon graduation, each child received a set of luggage. Before we laugh too hard, it really is a nice, practical gift that is likely to get years of use. As for cost, at least a nice piece of luggage or travel daypack/carry-on should be affordable on a limited budget .

Good job for steering her in the right direction. She already has a GREAT start in life at such a young age.

The luggage idea is especially good if she's still living at home!

Haha, don't want to give her any ideas...I rather like her being at home.

Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated!

Thanks to everyone that made a suggestion...I appreciate you all!

We wound up with "Oh the Places You'll Go" with everyone signing it...great idea, thanks! She also received about $600 cash including the prize she was awarded by the school for academic achievment.

Her Mom and I gave her a necklace and key chain (and the class ring a month ago). Her Sister went through all the family photo's and made her a pretty impressive album with captions...very cute and thoughtful.

Various gifts from other relatives...she made out like a bandit!

    Thanks again!
    Mike
