This reminds me that I need to go to Five Guys tomorrow.

    Nom, nom, nom...

Fuddruckers does make one hell of a burger. They also have a good grilled chicken breast burger. I think I remember them having good salads as well.

I forgot that Wild Willy's is a New England-only chain.....5 Guys isn't bad, but I'm not a fan of the 5oz burgers, you need to order at least a double to get a satisfying burger. Their Cajun french fries are fantastic, though.

I've heard their burgers are good, but Fuddruckers is still my champ until I taste something else to de-throne them.

This makes me think of the Fuddruckers scene from the movie Idiocracy. I can not find it on YouTube but it is great!

As far as burgers, I will stick with a Veggie burger from J Alexanders or my other favorite place - it is a raw vegan place downtown

We have Fuddruckers and Five Guys in California. And they are pretty good for what they are -- which is an expensive sit-down burger experience.

But they are no threat whatsoever to In-N-Out. Because In-N-Out will hand you high quality burgers at McDonald's prices from the drive-through window.

Here's a shocking 2010 report on the price increases at In-N-Out. Yes, there was dismay that their cheeseburgers broke the $2 price barrier, rising to $2.05.

Fortunately, In-N-Out's 2012 price for a regular burger (no cheese) is still only $1.90, before tax. I had one today. In terms of value, In-N-Out simply has no competition.

The other remarkable thing about In-N-Out is that it is actually possible to get a reasonably healthy and nutritious meal there. Most people don't bother, but it is possible.

I get a plain burger, extra tomato, extra onions, chopped chiles, no salt, protein style.

This means there is no bun. Instead, they wedge the meat patty in a wad of fresh lettuce, with two thick slices of tomato, two thick slices of onion, chopped pepperoncinis, and their "spread" (=sauce). All the vegetables are fresh. They make it perfectly every time.

Cost for the customized burger with all the extra veggies and no salt is still $1.90.

What the Fxxk! No, I meant what the Pho! A restaurant named after some of my favorite food. Vietnamese. Pho is prounounced like Fxxk, but without the k. In other words, what the FA! Get it? I know, I better not quite my day job!

What the Pho! - Vietnamese Noodle Soup

There used to be a WTP here in SoCal, but they closed. Oh well, there are other places nearby. Nobody can beat meat filled vietnamese egg rolls with thin noodles in them.

Damn it MC, now you have me craving egg rolls.

P.S. Sorry, I know WTP is way off topic from boygas!!!!! Or burgers, as we call them in SoCal.

I gotta side with you here man, In-N-Out actually has a nutrional table that lists fat, calories, etc. on the burger wrapper. And yes, they will make it whatever way you want it, including animal style!

I get a double double about once a month, with no spread, but ketchup and mustard instead. Extra pickles, fresh huge slices of tomatoes, and grilled onions. Buenisimo! Ten thumbs up. Plus they pay their workers a decent wage for a burger place. I like that. The workers are trained to be top notch in the customer service department.

This is a treat for me since I tend to mostly eat white meats, non fried. Of course, In-in-Out only has grilled burgers, which beats frying healthwise.

OK, that's the other remarkable thing about In-N-Out. They are a fast food chain, yet they pay well above minimum wage and offer solid health benefits -- including dental and vision. Their staff is totally friendly and totally competent, even with weird customized orders (like mine).

And yet their most expensive burger, the signature "double-double", made with high quality ingredients, costs something like $3.25.

How do they do this ? I can only guess that it is a combination of the extremely limited menu (burgers, cheeseburgers, fries, nothing else) and extremely high volume. They only offer a few items, but they move a lot of them. Seems like every In-N-Out is always packed inside and has a long line of cars at the drive-thru outside.

My absolute favorite burger is from a dive bar not far from where I grew up, but I didn't mention it initially, since it's a one-off place. I don't go there often, since I always run into people I know who want me to stay and drink with them, and I'm all set with that.

I agree In N Out makes a great burger and tastes as healthy as a burger can get imo. But growing up in the East Coast, to me there is no burger that I crave more than White Castles. Everytime I go back to the Tri State area I order 10 white castle hamburgers and 10 cheeseburgers, and that's just for myself. There are frozen White Castles at the supermarkets here in California but it really doesn't taste the same. And I've tried all types of sliders at different restaurants, and none of them can imitate White Castle's brilliance.

Who goes to a burger joint with healthy/nutritious in mind?

Does Fuddruckers still do that challenge where you can get your meal for free if you eat 5lbs of food in one sitting?

We used to have one in the Inland Northwest but they are gone now. I like 5 guys, In n Out, White Castle, and we have a local joint called Zips that makes a good burger. Best burger I've ever had was from a Tai Food place in Portland, OR. It was incredible and came with a fried egg on it! I'm getting fat just thinking about it.

White Castle must be good, after all, Harold and Kumar went through harrowing lengths to get to White Castle.
