Sounds like Stalin and Hitler. "You do not agree with us so you must be treated for your sickness."

Scepticism regarding the need for immediate and massive action against carbon emissions is a sickness of societies and individuals which needs to be "treated", according to an Oregon-based professor of "sociology and environmental studies".
Climate-change scepticism must be 'treated', says enviro-sociologist ? The Register

From the Univ. of Oregon .... Resistance at individual and societal levels must be recognized and treated before real action can be taken to effectively address threats facing the planet from human-caused contributions to climate change.

Those are what we in law enforcement call "cookie eyes"......the brain is functioning, but something is misfiring somewhere.

This winter was exceedingly mild as far as snow, but so have other past winters, while others have resulted in us getting buried in snow at the same time Al Gore and his Chicken Little minions were screaming about global warming. Weather is cyclical....always has been, always will be.

There are three questions that must all be answered yes before that sort of action is warranted. One, is the climate really changing? Two, if it is, is human activity the primary cause? Three, if so, then would the steps necessary to undo this process be less bad for humanity than adapting to climate change?

Okay, I'll buy the first one. I'll even stipulate the second, even though I don't know and don't think anyone else really does either. But the third? No way.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for alternative energy. And as a vegan, my carbon footprint is smaller than most people who call for "immediate action!!!!!111!!!!!!!1!!" But from an economic standpoint I don't see our species being able to make a sharp U-turn like that without an awful lot of poor people being flung off the back of the truck in the process. Sorry, but people come first.

I like it when someone says "This has been the warmest year in 400 years." and they use that as evidence that the climate is changing radically. I agree with Bruce that the weather is cyclical and I'm willing to agree that humans are likely contributing to this process to some small extent but I don't know that we need to be "treating" people who have differences of opinion.

Just imagine what brainwashing is going on at Univ. of Oregon in her classes. Scary!

Well, the world was going through the Little Ice Age from 1300 to 1800. Is it any wonder that, coming out of the Little Ice Age, we have 200 years of global warming? As to the cause of global warming, it is all that methane in cow farts!
