    Hello DegreeInfo members!

As many of you know, I worked at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe Community College (LCOOCC) for 6 years. I can honestly say that those years were very fulfilling to me.

LCOOCC is a tribal college, and most of the students there struggle with economic hardship, lack of positive role models, etc. However, there are wonderful success stories that graduate from LCOOCC.

One of the highlights of the year for selected students is the AIHEC Conference: AIHEC Conference 2012

It costs about $500 dollars to send a student to the conference. I am asking the members of this board to consider making a contribution, no matter how large or how small to LCOOCC to help send a student to AIHEC. For those who keep track of those things, a contribution to LCOOCC is tax deductible.

    Please mail contributions to:

    LCOOCC
    Ray Burns - Interim President
    15946 W. Trepania Road
    Hayward, WI 54843

Thanks so much for considering this.

    Shawn

Is there only 1 student that is going or needs help?

Total of 8 students. LCOOCC picks up the tab for the students. I know that LCOOCC is facing some financial challenges right now. They did not replace my position when I left.

I think it would be great if we could help at least 1 student, but LCOOCC wouldn't turn down more help.

I will contact Ray on Monday. I will donate at least $250. I am having my taxes done tomorrow so it might be a grim day. If it is a good day, I might be able to send more. Anyone willing to match this pledge so we can send at least one student?

I face the music (taxes done) on Tuesday, so I'll have an answer for you then. If the news is good, I would love to make sure that at least one student gets to go.

    Randell;

I matched you. PS some of my ancestors were on the LCO rolls.

    Sgusom,

Good catch on the typo on the street address. Thanks!

    The address is:

    LCO Ojibwa Community College
    ATTN: Ray Burns Interim President
    13466 W. Trepania Rd.
    Hayward, WI 54843

LCOOCC apparently hasn't replaced the letter from Dr. Hornett, who resigned in December. Ray Burns is the Interim President

    LCO.edu | Directory

As far as PayPal, LCOOCC does not have a PayPal account.

Again, thanks for bringing the typo to our attention. If anyone mailed a check to the "wrong address" don't worry, as long as you placed LCO Community College and Hayward, WI on the envelope, it will get there. Hayward is a small town :)

Looks like at least two are going based on comments here. By the way, I adjunct at LCO (two classes a year) and they are some of the nicest people I ever worked with. The students are awesome also!

I learn more things about my former employer everyday. Be sure to put AIHEC Conference in the designation if you go this route.

BTW - the generosity of the people on this board is amazing. By my quick count we have about $1300 committed to this.

I wish I was in a position to be as generous as some of you have been... but no luck. Anyway, I'm in for $50, I hope it helps get at least one person there.
