Taken a moment to say hi to a friend you have not seen in a long time? I got the desire to go by and visit my friend Franco De Camargo (Gracie BB)today. I drove to his BJJ studio expecting to find him there like usual. The Thai man inside the studio told me Franco had passed away from Leukemia. Now, one of Franco's students runs the studio, and the Thai man teaches thai kick boxing. If only I had taken the time......................If only. Franco was a very young looking guy in his early forties. I don't know why I posted this. A bit morose lately. Sleep is a thing of the past for me. Abner
Exactly....there is no sense in living in the past. A few years ago, I went to visit my former 6th grade teacher, as she was friendly with the family of one of my co-workers. When I went to visit her, she was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's Disease, so while she did remember me, she thought I was still in the 6th grade. It was a bit distressing to have this woman who used to be my entire world during the school day, asking me about school assignments and school room crushes that happened 30 years ago. I know from experience that you can't argue with Alzheimer's patients, so I just agreed and excused myself as soon as I could. She died less than a year later, and I really wish I never saw her in that state....I rather would have attended her funeral with my good memories intact.
