    Hi Kizmet,
Nothing about the car, but I can offer this:
Usually on EV's the faster you want to go the more power it consumes, so find out how many watts it uses' say at 35 mph, 45 mph, 60mph etc. they are probably ranging the EV at some optimum speed range, which may be disappointing as hell.
One more thing, find out the life cycle of the batteries...just about every battery known to man has only so many charge and discharge cycles in them before they crap out.... then find out what it takes to replace the whole battery bank on that Tesla, it could be several thousand dollars....so is this still the offset in gasoline?

I feel sure they are using sealed batteries such as Gels or Lithium’s, wet cells would be too much of a maintenance issue for the average owner, but wet cells can handle an overcharge much better than Lithium’s...you over charge a Lithium, you kill it there, dead, stone cold dead...so if the voltage regulator on the charger craps out and let's the voltage climb out the roof.. you have a mighty expensive battery bank to replace.....warranties on the electronics?

Being green is all warm and fuzzy, but economically it can beat the hell out of you.
I have a wind turbine behind the house which I built myself, it cuts the power bill by about 60-80 bucks a month, but it took about 3500 bucks and lots of hours of fabricating to get it up on a 70 foot tower...Pay back period? Well it’s in the math, but without a doubt I went with a bank of wet cell batteries

Not that I'm in the market, I like my Santa Fe and will probably drive it into the ground. But the X's gullwing doors look super cool.
