Ii love the notion that they haven't quite found the particle but they have "the footprint and the shadow" and that's (almost?) good enough. I guess if you saw my footprints and my shadow, you'd be pretty safe concluding that I was really there (especially if the "there" was in the village of Stornoway, where I will be shortly).
