Anyone have any thoughts about these two SUVs? I need a V6 (boat) and like AWD over FWD and am torn between the two.

I know the Kia gives more options and better warranty, but I like the looks of the Jeep and also the ride (smooth and very little cabin noise)... anyone here have any experience with either? ..2011/2012 models? I had considered the Ford Explorer but have not yet read any good reviews on the MyFord Touch system, which is enough to steer me away from it... so, it's down to the Kia or the JGC.

    Thoughts? :)

    Currently have 2 Jeep Liberty's (06 & 11) and never a problem with either.

My brother in law got a Jeep a long time ago (1990) and drove it to 250K miles without a single issue. Of course, he got another without a second thought. I do not know enough about the Kia but drove in one a few years ago and it seemed like the windows were partially open it was so loud inside.

I'm a big fan of the Jeep brand....my current ride is a 1995 Cherokee Sport that I bought brand-new in December of 1994, and after 119,000 miles, the only non-wear items (brakes, tires, battery, headlights, hoses, belts, etc.) I've had to replace are the radiator ($340) and starter ($150). Always starts right away, pulls as strong as it did when I first bought it, and handles New England winters like a champ.

I would go with the Jeep if you ever wanted to sell it and have any sort of resale value.

I drive a Jeep Wrangler and that thing just won't die. I don't know about the Sorento but just be aware that the Grand Cherokee will not get very good gas mileage.

    LOL all Jeep fans.. GREAT!
After MUCH MUCH consideration, I ended up with a 2012 Sorento SX... 0% financing and loaded with all options as well as a 5 year / 100k kms bumper to bumper, the Jeep just couldn't compare. It was tough, and if the Jeep dealer would have been a little more forthcoming, there is a very good chance I would have gone with them, but they just couldn't step up to the plate.
(What's even worse, afaic, is that Canadian car dealers simply do not give the incentives the US dealers give... totally blows. Not to mention the HUGE price difference: the Kia SX in the US: $34k, here, 42k.)

I really dig most of the Kia designs for some reason, and their pricing seems pretty good.

Jeep. . . I like many of their vehicles, but didn't like the ride on the Liberty-- seemed too bouncy and truck-like. But I really like the Liberty interiors.

Honda Pilot would not be any better on fuel economy than my MDX; Ford .. thought about it, but the poor reviews on the MyTouch coupled with 3yr/60k kms bumper-bumper just turned me off. I would have went for the Jeep if they stood behind their product like Kia and offered 5 year / 100k kms bumper-bumper, instead, they try to squeeze you for an extra 2k to bump it to 5/100 from 3/60.
