(Post about your favorite beer here.) It's my favorite time of the year... BREAKFAST STOUT TIME!!! I look forward to September just for this... especially here in New England, where Breakfast Stout is worth more than gold (Seriously.. the local package store limits one 4-pack per customer).
Well my favorite beer may be the beer I make, though since becoming a student I haven't time to brew...Stone Imperial Stout comes pretty close. Phillip
My favorite overall to drink is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, although most often you can find me with a bottle of Samuel Adams Boston Lager. If I could find Samuel Adams Scotch Ale more often, it would likely be a staple as well. I have forum membership to some beer enthusiast sites but I rarely ever sign in. I'm not one of those people that can give you the artistic and technical breakdown of every single possible detail, nor would I care to be. I tend to like beer with rich, memorable flavor and absolutely abhor anything they sell at the corner store- it has much better use in interrogation tactics (beerboarding anyone?). The phrase "Bud Light is NOT beer" has become a catch phrase of mine and I find that Bud Light Lime tastes like dish soap. Admittedly (and quite ironically) I've been known to purchase and consume a 40 of malt liquor on occasion. No, it doesn't get me drunk. Yes, I like it better than Corona.
My default beer is Miller Lite, but I also enjoy a good Belgian White Ale like Blue Moon, Shock Top, Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat, UFO White, etc. I also like a good IPA like Bass Ale, but I can only have a couple before I have to move on to something lighter. If I have some extra cash (because it's so expensive), I also like Grolsch, but it has to be in the bottles with the ceramic pop-tops.....I swear it tastes different in bottles with metal caps.
Is breakfast stout really intended to be taken with breakfast?! I happen to be the only non-alchoholic I know who is not opposed to having a beer with breakfast, and not just on the weekends either.
My favorite import is Bodington's Draught Ale and my favorite domestic is a Texas favorite: Shiner Boch. If I'm in the mood for something really dark I'll go with Fort Worth, Texas microbrew Ugly Pug. Do they sell Shiner outside of Texas? I've never seen it out of state before. If not you guys let me know...I'll send you one for Christmas
I dunno much about beers, but I recently tried this one at a restaurant: "Flying Monkeys Hoptical Illusion Almost Pale Ale" (Flying Monkeys Crafty Brewery) ... it was pretty good. My usual beer when I'm out at a bar/restaurant is Heineken. Back in university I used to drink Molson Canadian (it was cheap ... and they had good TV commercials haha) but I had one a few weeks ago and it wasn't good at all, so I guess my palate has improved somewhat.
When I worked the midnight-8am shift, we would sometimes go out after work and toss back a couple, but I then went home and went to bed. Nothing like waking up with a hangover at 8pm.
