If you are interested in this please send a message to my account here alongwith three availble days and times in Eastern standard Time format. This is an all volunteer network. What I am asking is that you are willing to commit 5 hours a month to build a strong network and attend a certain amount of on-line meetings.

Will this be a fluff type information board, ala Yahoo Education and Careers postings where we essentially re-write old stuff lifted from other job boards?

Will we be re-hashing old tired advice for web 2.0 folks?

How will we post jobs not found on the internet?

What are the online meetings for?

Do you have a career counseling blog or employment type blog right now that we can look at?

What does the site look like?

    Who is our target audience?

What exaclty are we offering? Advice? Placement? Resume Help? etc.?

    1. Of course we will re-hash web 2.0 (Any board will have a redundancy in topics. ), but I want to try and stay current as well.

    2. one idea is sometimes the small weekly papers will post ads for jobs. We can post those. As well as asking others if there are connections to jobs. Maybe one person might not have the right skills while th eother person does. Also, cold calling local businesses.

    3. Discuss issues that we maybe facing to help solve those issues, like budget reduction while unemployed or look at a persons resumes and see how they respond in on-line meetings. They might not be aware of a certain skill they have tha they can put on their resume.

    4. I don't do career counseling, but I have invited people from my alumnus network who have volunteered to help speak on-line. One is a Human resouce officer in New York. You can only access her website by invitation.

    5. The site will probably a free proboards account.

    6. What will we be offering? All of the above. The target audience is anyone who can, needs and/or wants to help.

There seem to be an awful lot of these kinds of blogs out there already, with non existent barriers to entry in calling yourself a life/career coach professional any sleave wiper with some WYSIWIG experience can create a career blog.

Plus most states have Workforce/Worksource programs that provide most of these services (and a lot more) a little to no cost for job seekers. I know it's a voluntary thing, but not much of a productive one in my opinion.

    Good luck with your endeavor.

I nver claimed to be a career/life coach or a Human resource officer. I am like you. I am currently working outside my field. I was hoping to get together with people to help build a strong network that would strive to put people back to work, but you seem more interested in bitchi' than doing something constructive. No I know why you are un/under employed.
