So I have a guy that I've known since we were in Kindergarten all the way through high school and I haven't seen him since. After high school, I joined the military and he went directly into college. 12 years later, he tracked me down on facebook, and we got together today for a beer. He just completed his Master's and I just finished my Bachelors. We began drinking beer and talking about the experiences that changed us forever, just how important educations is, and we both agreed that the more we learn the less we know. He is currently going after his teaching credential, and I am going after my broker's license. Then we began bitching about whats wrong with kids today, and then it dawned on me . . . . we're getting old, lol.
Opps, I just noticed I posted this in the wrong place. Mods, if you can move this into the off topic discussion that would be great.
Yeah, sometimes I say something then look around to see if my father is in the room because I know those words could not have come from my mouth!
I wonder if there's a psychological term for this phenomenon. I've experienced it a few times, myself! -Matt
I've been complaining about kids ever since I was a kid. I think the first time I said "I can't stand teenagers," I was 17. I'm getting old as well... I'm on the countdown to.... :guilty: ... the big 3-0.
Oh man, you old geezer. I remember the big 3 0 and it was traumatic. But it doesn't hurt as much as you think when it hits. It's the leading up to it that drives you nuts.
Where is the "like" button when you need it, lol. My buddy is planning to start an non-profit organization that organizes after school sports activities which is centered around academics. Essentially, the better your grades the lower the cost to join the league. He wants to also offer tutoring services for kids who want a better shot at college. So we were talking about finding a location to open a gym that would also have an area for classroom activities. A way to give back to the community and keep the young kids off the streets.
As someone who isn't the big 3-0 yet, the prospect doesn't bother me. I won't mind the additional credibility boost from not being a twenty-something.
