I hear you! I am going to switch my car insurance and my homeowners insurance over to them so they can handle it all rolled into one!

Your credit union provides car and homeowners insurance? Which credit union is this? Don't know much about credit unions, but I'm still surprised at this.

No, they broker the insurance polices, and in doing so, you save a lot of duckets. Nobody can beat their low interest rate loans. They also sell Mercury insurance extended car warranties at the lowest prices I have ever seen.

What I like about the credit union is it is member driven, and they have top experts making sure you get the lowest loans, insurances, etc. by reputable companies. So everything is in your best interest.

Love it! I have always had a savings account with them, but I had no idea that offered so many different services. If you are not a member of a credit union, get signed up ASAP.

I bank with a credit union, but my insurances are through USAA which is a cheap as they get in terms of insurance.

The cheaper the better. I heard USAA is the best you can get. Is it true I might be able to get since my dad is a veteran?

Your dad would have had to have started the policy while he was still in the military. If you wait until after you get out, its too late to join. However, once you have the policy started, you have it for life and it can be past down from generation to generation forever essentially.

USAA has changed their eligibility criteria so any honorably discharged veteran can now join at any point in time.

That must have recently changed, my father (Honorably Discharged Vietnam Veteran) tried to get it for the first time about 18 months ago and he was denied.

I also like the fact that you get reimbursed for all ATM fees when using your USAA card. We have been banking with them for 10 years and love it. Great insurance, home and cars, great rates for auto loans. Fantastic customer service.

    Highly recommended.

It looks like it was about 2 years ago that USAA changed the eligibility requirements.

I agree! The reimbursed ATM fees is such an under rated perk. Definitely recommend as well.

I'd also add that the credit union offers bad credit loans when most banks wouldnt even consider it.

As a greater number of fees were cooked up by banks like Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America, a lot of people became fed up and left those banks, many for credit unions. Fewer individuals trust the banks nowadays, after the economy went in the toilet and then they turned on their customers with fees. Consequently, numerous people started ditching the banking industrial complicated for credit unions and community banks. Credit union membership hit an all-time high and 2011 and continued to increase over 2012. Resource for this article: Credit Union vs Big Bank.
