My son, who's currently in the navy in California, has just gotten his orders to go to Bahrain in spring of next year. Have any of you ever been there or lived there and can maybe tell us what he can expect of living there for about 1 1/2 years?
One of the guys I was with in Iraq was stationed there with the Marine Corps. All I can remember is that he voluntarily extended his assignment twice because he absolutely loved being stationed there. He spoke very highly of Bahrain and said he really enjoyed it there and he didn't want to leave. Not very helpful, but that is all I can contribute.
I spent two weeks working in Abu Dhabi as a civilian several years ago. Very boring and extremely expensive.
