So I was assigned an eight page article to read which outlined some interesting aspects of Louisiana, their people, and their political culture. I have never been there personally, so my experience in this subject was that I had no experience at all. The paper outlined how Louisiana politicians are very corrupt, well more than normal anyhow, and having corrupt politicians were widely accepted by the citizens of Louisiana for generations. The article then explained how FEMA funds during Katrina were mismanaged and so on and how the politics of the day were to blame and so on . . . .

Another part of the article was explaining the overall lack of education, citing that 41% of people in Louisiana did not complete high school and were illiterate. However, many of the people along the lower socioeconomic scale take pride in the fact that they are cunning enough to out wit someone with a college education. To illistrate this fact, the following joke was part of the article:

A Cajun was stopped by a game warden in southern Louisiana with two ice chests full of fish.

The game warden asked the Cajun, "Do you have a license to catch those fish?"

The Cajun replied, "Naw, ma fren, I ain't got none of dem, no. Dese are my pet fish."

    "Pet fish?!" the warden replied.

"Ya. Avery night I take dese here fish down to de bayou and let them swim' round for a while. I whistle and dey jump rat back into dere ice chests and I take dem home."

"Thats a bunch of hooey! Fish can't do that." said the game warden.

The Cajun looked at the game warden for a moment and then said, "Its the truth ma' fren, I'll show you. It really works."

"Okay, I've GOT to see this!" The game warden was curious now.

The Cajun poured the fish into the bayou and stood and waited. After several minutes, the game warden turned to the Cajun and said, "Well!?"

    "Well, what?" said the Cajun.

"When are you going to call them back?" the game warden prompted.

"Call who back?" the Cajun asked.

    "The FISH."

    "What fish?" the Cajun asked.

Every once in a while you get an assignment that seems straightforward and then you run into something that really makes you laugh and you learn something in the process. This was one of them, lol.

BTW, the article was called, "Louisiana's Ethical Culture and Its Effect on Administrative Failures Following Katrina" by Carole L. Jurkiewicz.

    That is a funny story.

How can it take 8 pages to make the following conclusion? "George Bush hates black people".

I am currently finishing up my MPA at LSU, the program that Dr. Jurkiewicz (Dr. J) teaches in. She normally has some pretty insightful remarks during class time.

    Glad you enjoyed.

I actually loathe George W. Bush and even I don't believe that. I think you're ascribing to malice what can adequately be explained by incompetence.
