After all the crap talking, impossible promises, bravado and of course comparing Lebron James to Michael Jordan it was very, very satisfying to watch the Dallas Mavericks come out in the NBA finals as the champions they proved themselves to be. I think that the Miami Heat are the faster, bigger, more athletic and dare I say more talented team, but they lacked the mental toughness and maturity that comes with being around the block a time or two. I found it interesting to watch the older, slower, more experienced team play all four quarters, to the last second during the entire post season even on games they knew they couldn't win. Last night I saw the Heat literally give up altogether.

I don't know if Lebron James will ever be a Michael Jordan but if he hopes to have a chance he'll need to quit blaming everyone else and start looking at Lebron. He'll need to mature and become a leader, he'll need to be more competetive and of course he'll need to start focusing like a champion. Of course it wouldn't hurt for him to shut up every once in a while.

Anyone here watch the series? What were your thoughts on it?

There is still time for Lebron to develop into a Jordan-caliber talent/leader/winner, but is is quite behind already in terms of this point in his career vs Jordan's at the same age and experience.

What Lebron will never be is the cultural icon and ambassador that is Michael Jordan- who is undoubtedly the basketball equivalent to a Hulk Hogan, Garry Kazparov, or Babe Ruth. Then again, I don't think anyone is arguing to the contrary.

In the last game Miami actually performed better when LeBron was on the bench. He just disappeared as a factor, the exact opposite of what a real star should do.

I hope LeBron win a few before he retire.

Personal opinion: In terms of physical prowess, Lebron is the most talented if you directly compare Jordan and James. However, James lacks character. So if you want to really know what the difference between Lebron and Michael is you need to go back a generation.

Michael had James Jordan as a father. Retired Master Sergeant who was with him as a mentor his entire life. There's a lot of ethics there that made him who he was.

Lebron had Anthony McClelland, a person who abandoned his mother while pregnant to raise him alone. Regardless of how awesome a mom his mom was (and it's obvious she was tops), there are just some lessons that are more easily taught a boy, by a man.

I see it all the time with my son. I speak boy. My wife is a far better person than I am, in almost every conceivable way, but she couldn't replace me in that particular aspect.

Is it a surprise that Lebron has no backbone as compared to Jordan? No, not really.

I agree, Lebron shows an acute lack of character and a lot of immaturity. This loss can make him so much of a better player if he will just take it to heart like Bosch and Wade did. I don't see either of those guys blaming the team, blaming the fans or just venting the bitterness that Lebron does.

I didn't appreciate Jordan when he was still playing because as a kid, I was a Lakers fan. It was tough for me to watch a decade of the Bulls but in retrospect, Jordan may be one of the most pure atheletes for his given sport of all time. Nobody worked harder, he was a true leader and lead by example, he made everyone else around him better in every respect and in a clutch Jordan could simply take care of business making impossible shots. I used to think that Magic and Kareem were the best of all time and maybe as a duo they were, but nobody could turn a team around just by showing up the way Jordan could.

Go back another generation and look at Bill Russell.

See my comments above in red, I agree with your assesment of LBJ. The jury is still out, he's a physical freak of nature, but his basketball skills leave a lot to be desired. I like him as a player and think he can/could be one of the top 3 all time. Unfortunately he seems more like Wilt than Mike/Russell.

My assessment of LeBron's mom has more to do with LeBron growing up to be LeBron regardless of having no positive male role model to speak of.

We all have failings. To me, personally, leaving a child with half of a set of parents is a worse crime than anything she's accused of doing. Course that comes with a bit of perspective.
