Have you ever had neighbors who neglect to pick up after their cigarette buds and dog's poo? My town house island is becoming such venue. Certainly they can't have none of that in their island. What behavior modification techniques do you recommend?
Put the dog shit on their porch, their car windshield and the door handles of their car. Put the cigarette butts on the hood of their car. Of course I don't recommend this until after attempting to have a civilized conversation with them. If that doesn't work, let your dog deficate in their yard. If you don't have a dog, do it yourself.
AUTiger00 drives me up the wall half the time and makes me laugh hysterically the other half. This is one of the latter times. ROFL.
The first part of that story is, some might say sadly, true. I had a neighbor that let his dog crap in my yard and threw his cigarette butts over my fence. After speaking to him to alleviate the situation I did exactly what I perscribed doing here. Granted this was almost ten years ago, I like to think I'd respond differently today....but I probably wouldn't.
While acts of revenge sound fun, they usually accomplish little unless you're willing to engage in a game of one-up-man-ship. That can only lead to serious trouble. Personally, I wouldn't want to go there. You probably don't either, unless winning this battle is worth going to prison for. First, talk to him. Is he really that oblivious? He might be, or he might just not care, or he might be a real jerk. Second, get a video recorder. Most digital cameras have at least short video capability. You need proof. Then you have options. Civilized options. *If it's a townhouse I assume you have a homeowners association. File a complaint and follow up. It may take soem time but it can result in an eviction. *If you're a renter, complain to the landlord. Then move at the end of your lease. *Find out if he is breaking any local ordinances or health codes. *Finally get the police involved. I'm not sure there is much they can do though, beyond talking to him and perhaps a citation for littering. In the end you might have to move. It isn't fair, but that's life sometimes.
Great suggestions. Thank you. I am planning to write to the condo association to ask residents to pick up after fido.
