I am so mad I could scream right now!!! We decided to pay for my grad degree out of pocket using bonuses from my husband work. He is set to get a bonus on June 24th that should cover my summer tuition at UNR but until then I was planning to use financial aid to cover tuition. I called the fin aide office over a month ago to ask what I would need to do for summer financial aid and was told that on May 1st I would need to fill out a summer application and send back and make sure I had my Fafsa done. I did all this (fafsa has been done a long time). Yesterday I call to check the status of my fin aid because my courses are set to begin this coming Monday. I am then told that I will have to pay for my courses out of pocket because they do not start processing the summer applications until tomorrow and award letters do not go out until end of this month.... :yell::yell::yell::yell:: Normally I would just foot the bill and wait for reimbursement however there are 3. problems...1. awards letter will not come out till end of month.. 2. last day to drop for 100%refund is May 23rd and 3...see below Now the problem with is that we are in limbo right now with husband's job and are waiting on news any day now of an upcoming move so we are hoarding money like mad because it could be that are family has to separate for awhile and would be floating 2 houses... therefore we can't spend the money for my tuition as that money might be needed really soon for the move or down payment on a house depending on how the job works out (whole other story). I am so mad right now because I really wanted to start this summer term and have ordered books etc and 1 course I won't be able to take if I have to wait until summer to start. What pi$$es me off to no end is that they do not have a process set up for courses that begin 2 weeks earlier than the standard first term at their college....which is why I am in this spot to begin with!! Okay financial aid rant over..........
Not really. Payment is due May 13th and my courses don't start until May 16th. There is no deferral of a payment plan for the summer term. If I don't pay I will be dropped from the course on the 19th and I will get charged a late fee to my account up to 150.00 that will need to be paid before I can begin classes in the fall.....
