    Mods: vBulletin request

A 'feature' request of the vBulletin-ware, please.

On 'another' forum running this software, one is able to edit their own posts subsequent to posting them. It lets us go back and fix typos, grammar...stuff like that. Most handy, (particularly here considering this is a board about education and typos, grammar, spelling issues tend to make one look like an idiot!).

My assumption is that is available here, and just requires a Mod (?) to turn it on. Could be a poor assumption. Can you please check?

    Many thanks!!

    OK...now I'm confused....

I've just posted, and I see "Edit Post", but I didn't see it attached to one of my posts on another thread.

    Wait a sec....gotta go double check....BRB.....

OK....it's not showing up on my own posts on other threads, but it is on this one!

So, maybe it's just there if you are the originator of the thread?!???

Not sure, but you get the idea of the request, right?

    Danke!

There's editing, but it's limited time duration. If you see something you goofed up right away, you can fix it. If you see something from yesterday, well, you should have been more careful.

One of the nice things about being a mod is that there is no 10 minute limit on editing.

    Ahh....now I see.

So, the request still stands, and I see no reason why we can't fix the typo/grammar/spelling at any time.

I see a reason for it. It keeps spammers from going back into posts and adding things like spam links as a way around initial moderation.

I agree with Steve. Pay attention to what you type so you don't need to edit it at a later time.

Sorry, I understand the merit of the request, but it will not be granted. Chip feels very strongly that the integrity of this site rests upon its content integrity- IE, you can not change previous posts in an attempt to rewrite history .

If you have spelling or grammar problems, or feel like you have unintentionally compromised your personal information, you can PM a moderator; we will look at it make changes as needed.

FYI, Ted touched upon something that I want to repeat. You have 10 minutes after posting to make edits before your post becomes permanent. You can even delete it in that time, but again, after 10 minutes, it is permanent.

Aside from all of that, everyone knows that typos and grammar gaffs occur. It's not that big of a deel.

It's OK, you don't need to beg.

Write your posts in word and then copy/paste here. I'm sure that everyone will appreciate your fastidiousness (or is that fastidiosity?)

You have 10 minutes to edit anything you want. I do it all the time and did it just as easily before I was a mod. We don't have the power to change that feature for you. Only Chip does.

Does your edit button really appear and disappear? That might be a browser issue. Try using a different browser.
