I had my appendix removed last night at ER

    I've heard that the lead up to that kind of surgery is pretty painful. I'm glad you're OK.

    Wow, and not even a day later you are posting again on the internet. You are the man!!!!!

    Mine ruptured and the docs had to dig around to find all the pieces. Then they left me open for a week to drain the infection. :ugh:

    I hope they are giving you plenty of liquid paradise (morphine). :yumyum:

    Thank goodness for modern medicine. It was one of those things that a few generations ago was a death sentence. Best wishes, get well soon. :grouphug:

    Thanks for the kind words everyone

    MC, they gave me some stuff that was stronger that morphine while I was waiting for prep. When they shot it into my veins, it actually made my left carotid artery feel hot. Then I got a numbed feeling which really helped the pain from the inflamed appendix (of course, for the appendix surgery they knocked me out cold.) I got operated on around 12:30, and I woke up around 1:30pm. I have Kaiser and everyone was very kind and professional. I kind of made forget that I was in a hospital and it kind of made it seem like I was staying over a friends house. Although my friends usually don't cut into my abdomen.

    I will be at home recuperating for a week or more.

    Been there, done that, happened to me when I was 13. My parents had no insurance and took me to an ER after I cried all day. The phsycian sent us packing saying I had a stomach bug but I made such a fuss they took me to another ER later that night. My appendix ruptured while they were filling out the paper work and then all heck broke lose. Before I could say "owie" I was on the operating room table. Pretty traumatic when you're a kid.

    Glad everything turned out okay.
