    Well it's about freakin' time!

YouTube - New System Replaces Color Coded Terror Alerts

My biggest criticism of the new two-tiered system is that the lower tier is called "elevated." Elevated?! How can the LOWEST level be called "elevated"? Elevated from what? It also puts us into a position where we never get to a point of restoration of "normal" since we are always on, at least, a higher alert than "normal."

Yeah the old system was ill conceived. The new system shows more promise, but time will tell. Whats going to be interesting is the implementation on social media to get the word out in a timely manner.

I don't think the system matters as long as we all have our plastic wrap and duct tape ready to go.

The old system had political flaws. If the elevated status was ever downgraded and an attack happened there would be massive blame and finger pointing going on. With this new 2 tiered system the message is that we are always vigilant and never let our guard down (despite reality).

The new system is politically bullet proof and mostly useless from a tactical perspective. Like most things conceived in Washington these days.
