    Oh boy,

So we are getting a nice new fancy stainless steel fridge. Sounds simple hah? No, first we had to have cabinet shortened to make the area/width wide enough to fit the new fridge in. Now, in order to get the damn thing in, we might have to see about having an appliance guy either take the doors off so we could get through the inside door spaces, or have the door off the kitchen on the side yard busted out and have a new wider one installed. At this point, we are hell bent on getting that thing in here one way or another.

This is why I have not been posting much. Bizarre things keep coming up.

    Oy vey!

Geez Abner, I'm sorry for your troubles but I've to tell ya . . .

I would have measured BEFORE I bought the fridge.:yup:

One of the things that changed in my life this last year was that I sold my little farm. I did it because it had taken over my life. All I ever did was work on the house, work on the barn, work on the sheds, work on the fields, work with the animals work, work, work. Now I actually have some time to do other things (like schoolwork). I live in a nice little apartment and I don't even have to shovel the snow.

BTW, in my experience it's worth it to widen that doorway because it's likely that you'll find yourself in this position again. Maybe next time it will be a couch or some other piece of furniture.

That's why I'm selling my house Abner......tons of crap to deal with. I can't wait till I get moved into the apartment we picked out. I can't wait for life to be a little bit easyier.

    Good Luck my friend.

A big fridge is very nice to have, but is it worth having to do construction? That's a hard call.

My house burned down back in 2005 and insurance paid for new construction and all new appliances. Since they were paying, we got a massive Maytag fridge with all the bells and whistles. Even though it's big, it still often seems too small to fit everything. Funny how that sort of thing works. As the saying goes, "too much is never enough".

Oops!!!!!!!!!!! I stressed out over nothing!!!!!!!!!!! The guys are delivering the sweet new fridge. I didn't know they simply took the doors out to accomodate thin entry ways. They say it is a piece of cake, plus these guys know about appliance repair anyway, so they are doing a great job.

Talk later, I think they are calling me.

yeah, the fridge problem is being solved as we speak - Nice. I know what you mean though. I was fortunate though, I bought in a good area of Cali when the real estate market took a major dive (way before this last dive), and I have made some good equity. Since the house was built in the early sixties, we have put in new copper plumbing, a new roof, new garage door and a top of the line commercial grade garage door motor. Once I get the house up to 2011 standards, I should be set.

    Consider it a "learning experience........."

    Hang in there.

Oh yeah!!!! - we had our house built 11 years ago - starting about a year ago we have had to replace the oven, microwave, and dishwasher. We are hoping the HAC, water heater and refrigerator last until our house is sold.

And in CA many homeowners are required to install a CO monitor by 2013.

There are 200 homes for sale in our 5,000 home development plus another 2000 homes for sale in the area (which has around 250,000 population). But home sales are picking up.

My wife and I sold our house last year. We got screwed in the process and lost about 30K because of falling home prices. Now we rent, which is okay, but boy o' boy do we miss that mortgage interest deduction on our taxes!

    Here is another one:

"It is bad when one thing becomes two.
One should not look for anything else in the Way of the Samurai.
It is the same for anything that is called a Way.
If one understands things in this manner,
he should be able to hear about all ways
and be more and more in accord with his own." - Hagakure

Here is the full version of the quote on the bottom of my sig line:

"Even if one's head were to be suddenly cut off,
he should be able to do one more action with certainty.
With martial valor, if one becomes like a revengeful ghost
and shows great determination, though his head is cut off,
he should not die." - Hagakure
