DreamSpark, free Microsoft software for students

    Just an FYI, I just signed up and download server 2008, server 2003, Visual Studio 2008 and 2010, MS Expression Studio Ultimate 4, MySQL Server 2008, all free. You have to have an .edu email address or ISIC number. What a deal, if its free, its me!

    For most IT / CS related programs you can also access the software through their affiliation with the MSDN academic alliance. How long is the license for? For MSDN it's 1 year.

    No time limit, it is the full software package with key.

    Surely if it's from Microsoft you mean MS-SQL Server?

    I hear you. My kids always make fun of me because I'm such a sucker for free t-shirts. That's one reason I'm into open source software (although not the only one).
