everybody has to eat, right? so we may as well eat what we like. one of the things i like, mostly as a snack, sometimes as an appetizer, is apples and cheese. i've done this so many ways, just raw, grilled, in the microwave, apple pie with cheese on top, etc. but here's the thing. there's so many kinds of apples and so many kinds of cheese...i can't handle all these combinations by myself.

help me out, tell me your favorite combination. i want everything from macs and cheddar to granny smith and roquefort. this is apple season people! give me your combos! i've got a little block of fontina that's just begging for the right apple. help me out. what if i buy some gruyere? or golden delicious?

My favorite combination involves frozen custard, Reese's peanut butter cups, and cookie dough.

Regarding the apple question, I don't have a clue and just eat whatever apples the wife buys.

Get a good apple and a good cheeze and you will have a good snack, whatever types they happen to be.

How about an empire apple with brie cheese?

I grow Anna apples here in the desert. When they run-out I buy Cox's Pippin apples.
For cheese I buy Wensleydale or Cheshire (when not avaible I buy NZ chedder)
But I've never tried combining them.

My favorite desert is rhubarb crumble or apple/blackberry crumble served warm with either hot custard or cold vanilla ice cream. :yumyum::yumyum::yumyum:

    Baked apples: always good.
Melted sharp cheddar cheese: always good.
Combining them in this way: exponentially good.
Preheat oven to 350. Grease a one quart baking dish.
In small bowl #1, mix together 1/2 cup brown sugar and 3 tablespoons flour, then stir in 3 tablespoons apple juice.
In small bowl #2, mix together 1/4 cup melted butter or margarine, and 1/2 cup crushed cracker crumbs. (We use those round buttery crackers; most any unsalted kind will do)
Peel and slice enough apples to make 12 or 13 ounces. We last used Jonathan.
Place sliced apples in prepared baking dish.
Cover apples with three layers: a layer of the sugar mixture, a second layer of about 12 oz. of shredded sharp cheddar cheese, and a third layer of the cracker crumb mixture.
Bake for 20 to 30 minutes, or until hot and top is browned.
    Serves 4. Or 3. Or 2. Or 1.
