Good Morning, Are there any new options for graduate credit obtained through life experience? Thanks. Have a peaceful weekend. Hille

    Two avenues:

    1. MIGS, which I can't recommend.

    2. An MPhil/PhD-by-publication/experience program, and I have no real squabbles with these--but you usually have to write an extensive culminating paper that explains, in effect, "Why do I deserve this degree?"

    Cheers,

    independent study

Graduate level credit for life experience sort of counters the goal of the "graduate" education to create new original research.
However, sometimes, sort of in the bending-the-rules category, a program will allow an elective independent study course which applies current research to a real life experience. Rarely is it more than one course out of a graduate program. It makes more sense to look at current research in an area that you can use in your thesis/dissertation. Then each class can be a chapter in the final thesis.
    All the best!
