For the past 12 years or so, I've been posting on quite a few DL-related fora. After pondering it for awhile, I realize that my primary aims in doing so have been two:

    a. Showing off what I know.
    b. Proving you're wrong.

Oh, sure, there's been no small amount of desire to truly help people as well, but I'm afraid (truly) that reason doesn't crack the top two. Thus....

I've concluded that my behavior has been incredibly narcissistic and selfish. Regardless of the low esteem in which I hold a few posters, I've found a way to get even lower. Thus....

I'm going to refrain from posting for all the right reasons. I'll still read the boards, and will be happy to respond to the few PMs requesting assistance. If I have some salient and extremely essential information another poster requires--certainly a long shot, at best--I'll PM it. I would like to reserve the opportunity to post if I'm convinced it will help the community, but I suspect that will not happen. And I won't be posting this on the other board--most readers there also read here, I suspect. But it really doesn't matter. So....

See you around. I may have something to announce next year. Peace....

    Ohhhhh mannnnn you're right on!!!!

Bulls eye!!! You are soooo right!!!

Oh you're right-on about those other !@#$%^&* posters. They aren't worthy of our time. :moon:

What are you going to announce? :wavey:

The above is just a parody to make people laugh.

In all seriousness, posting anonymously with a cute user name can allow you to freely express your opinion(s) without feeling foolish about it later.

Well, yes, we all know this to be the case. However, this is exactly what I like about your posts.

Now I have to go back to people politely, respectfully, insisting that incorrect information is true and that assertions need not be validated with evidence.
    DL boards love narcissism.

As for selfish, have you ever heard of doctor fish? They eat the dead and affected skin of other organisms, not out of the kindness of their hearts, but because they're hungry. Those selfish little fish clear room for new, fresh skin to grow in its place. Several sufferers of psoriasis attribute being cured to those little, selfish buggers. Oh, and I had the time of my life when I found my way to a fish spa in Asia.

    Apply the analogy to yourself.

EDIT: Oh, whatever, we know you are coming back in two weeks anyway.

    Rich,

You neglected to mention that your posts are also rather informative and straight to the point - I would hate to see this forum loose a valuable resource. The vast majority of the folks here are adults and can "take it as well as give it" - I would like for you to stick around and continue being yourself and contributing as you have been.

I think you are being way to hard on yourself Rich. I like that you are not a yes man.

Ditto. I don't know where this is coming from Rich, but it's not my observation. Bear in mind that DD and DI are very different, and that this is the one with new people asking for help and where people come to announce new programs. Perhaps you're talking more about what things are like over there?

This is a drastic solution! I'd rather have my toes stepped on than lose that vital bit of information.

Best of luck to you either way :)

Absolutely nothing wrong with that especially because you know a whole bunch and whoever you are proving wrong is almost always wrong even if they never figure that out. :)

    Have fun,

Isn't this "throwing out the baby with the bath water"? I have never used that one but I think it is fitting. This is an open forum and opinions and information is important. Don't be selfish and withhold what you know when many can benefit. By the way, proving someone is wrong (misinformed) is a pretty good reason to post. Let's try this..."Boy, Kennedy-Western is a great accreditied school...peoples opinion of schools don't change when they learn about accreditation..." Are you going to bite?

You may be narcissistic, buts no reason to stop posting. You should however stop posting because I'm sick and tired of speaking out of my a$$, just to get corrected by you at every turn. So what if your usually right, that's no excuse, ignorance is bliss my friend, and I'd appreciate it if you could leave me alone while I consult the 3 of out 5 voices in head to see what your best course of action should be.

What were we talking about again?

He'll be back. He's simply re-registering with an anonymous pseudo name.

I wonder how bold he will be with it?

Or how about he make an appearance as his alter-ego "dooglearse?"

Only time will tell, but in the meantime, watch the banana dance:
