Is anyone familiar with this organization. I'm retiring from the Navy in August so put a couple of resumes out on Monster.Com and other job hunting sites. Recently this organization sent me an email asking me to become one of their Student Advisors. I tried to research this organization/company but found little other then what their website explains. The job sounds interesting but it's not really what I'm searching for (looking at a Management Analyst position with the civil service here in the NorthEast). Any comments would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

I'd never heard of it. From the website, it appears to be a large tutoring service for junior and senior high students. A curious line in their literature says:
Many of the best colleges (Beloit, Earlham, and Agnes Scott) are at the forefront of accepting these kinds of students.
They're all regionally accredited, with about a thousand students each, but "best" and "at the forefront"?

Perhaps Ms. Christas is really well connected. The "Home" link on the site is superimposed over a photo of the White House.

From the email they sent me they are just "setting up office" in the Northeast and want me to be the Advisor for the Tri-State (ME, NH, MA) area high schools. The job description sounds inviting yet I can't help feel that there is too little information found on this organization (supposedly west coast in origin). Thanks for your input! Hhumm - A Management Analyst job with the EPA or a Student Advisor Job with Linda Christas. Might have to ponder that thought for about 5 seconds (then again have to keep all options available).

    Regards,

Yeah, Linda Christas is a scam

From what I can find out, this is a scam that has been going on for a couple of years now. They don't give a phone number, physical address, or a P.O. Box on their website.

There have been mnay posts on http://collegiatefunding.com/ from people saying how they have been ripped off, but unfortunately they make it a policy to delete negative posts.

When I posted a question about them at alt.education (or something like that)I got scolded from one of them pretending to be an Chineese schoolgirl named "Opal Chan". Opal even sent me the supposed main phone number of Linda Christas. I looked it up with reverse look-up. It turned out to be an AT&T cellphone number!

The way this "Opal Chan" pretends to be an Asian schoolgirl and gives out phone numbers via email...she may have a future as a 1-900 operator!

At any rate, I filed reports with the FBI, the FTC., and the BBB. Maybe it will fianlly get shut down.

    Linda Christas

Please keep in mind guys that the Linda Christas web sites are meant to be brochures that people like me living in Montana can use as personal references to clients.

There is nothing mysterious about Linda Christas in terms of location or phone number. The national number is (916) 798-1304 which is used to collect messages and forwarded to field advisors.

You guys seem to be jumping to a whole lot of conclusions.

If you can find a public or private school in your community with a better, more solid board, my hat is off to you. See www.lindachristas.org

In the meantime, I would appreciate, and I'm sure the School would appreciate, your understanding or, failing that, at least evaluations based on SOMETHING solid. We certainly aren't afraid of that.

Let's have a test: Walk into your local public school and, at the counter, ask for the Principal's state administrative credential number, along with the names of members of the community that support their school's mission. If you do that, you may find yourself on the sidewalk. Try it, and then come back to this site and report what you were able to get from the public school vs. what is presented for the whole world to see regarding Linda Christas on the three web sites, including such things as the verifiable Master Teacher Credential number for our Dean (30568 - California).

Let's be fair people. Gossip is not the way to go.

Thanks, J. Isringhouser, Community Academic Advisor, Linda Christas

If people, upon reading your "brochures" are coming away with the wrong impression, perhaps you would consider blaming the brochure, not the readers.

    ?

I guess I am a bit perplexed. The first post sounds like it is asking for feedback and is coming from someone who has never posted here before. The second post is also a brand new poster. The third post is from the first poster but he now sounds like an employee! Time to call George into action!

    Re: Linda Christas

You are comparing apples to oranges. I expect any public high school's web page to have the Principal's name, Vice-Principal's name, and the schools phone number. Any less and I would be thinking scam.

Petrified spam is still spam. Putrid "Christian" (sic) rhetoric just stinks more.

While this would be a rather silly test, in California you don't even need to leave your house to find that information. It's public and on the Commission on Teacher Credentialing's website.

Now, as to why you would want to know that piece of information, I can't imagine. It's, for the most part, just trivia.
