On Saturday, we had our first class for the M.A. in criminology from the University of South Florida. The class is called ”Topics in Criminal Justice” and it was very interesting. The homework assignment is somewhat time consuming, but at least its interesting.

The class involves a lot of ”interactive discussion” between the professor and the students, which makes it interesting. Since we are all sworn officers (except for the professor), there is a wealth of information within the class.

It sure beats the University of Phoenix! (Don’t get me started on that one or else I’ll start ranting).

It looks like its going to be a good two years!

    Cheers! [IMG]

It's been my experience that when professors are looking for "interactive discussion", that means they're looking for argument, or at least lively debate.

    Yes, it was definitely lively.

After suffering through an undergraduate degree in business management, criminal justice is a very nice change.

If my memory serves me correctly, the professor got his bachelors and his masters in criminology from the University of South Florida and his doctorate in education from Nova University. He also retired as a campus cop.

With all the discussion that I’ve read here at DegreeInfo about Nova University, I was surprised to learn that our professor is a graduate of that school! Subsequently, I closely watched his teaching style and methods (since he probably learned them from Nova).

Here we have a professor at a major state university who got his doctorate from Nova. [IMG]

I teach both undergraduate and graduate courses at a major state university in New Jersey. Like I have said in the past, a search of the google web will give you an idea of how Nova Ph.Ds, DBAs, and Ed.Ds have succeeded in securing tenure in the academia.
