I get the feeling that users here have a better idea of what should be offered, what accreditation should be sought, what image should be upheld, hiring policies, teaching policies, etc. than the actual online universities offering the degrees. We should start a university: Degree Info University (name subject to change)
We have one already, some call it a mill...I call it a good deal. Degree Info University-You take the best, we get the rest!
Thomas Jefferson, this is a very good idea . It would certainly provide an opportunity for us to put to practice, what we've all been complaining about DL schools. The requirement to teach in the school would be degrees earned through DL only (this will provide us an opportunity to do what what B & M schools do to holders of DL degrees - ie discriminate against them). And then, tuition would be super affordable etc. I bet if we offer the right set of degrees, folks from developing countries could possibly flood the school due to its affordability amongst many other advantages. Regarding the name, we can borrow from TUI University style. Ours would be DIU University or Distance Learning (or Learner) University (DLU).
I had mulled over something similar to this on another site. Basically, it's a list of study resources that students can use to totally test their way to an associate degree in business. For now, students can transfer all the credit to one of the Big Three, but if someone else were to start a similar assessment college the principles would be the same.
