The Chronicle reports that a plan to change the name of California University of Pennsylvania (the name has caused much confusion) to Eberly University was quashed following protests by alumni and town folk. Mr. Eberly had donated $10 million, a rather low amount to have a state university renamed for you. His brother had no comment.
It cost Mr. Rowan $50 million to get Glassboro State University in New Jersey renamed as Rowan University. (And aren't they glad that Jacques Lipschitz didn't make the offer first.)
Pennsylvania also has an "Indiana University." And an "Edinboro University" (OK the spelling's a little off).
