    Thanks for the article. Sad.

    There certainly is a place in the world for ghostwriters, but their intrusion into scholarship is unscrupulous.

    The article mentioned that Chinese laws regarding plagiarism are lax. What about the (accademic/scholarly) culture? Do they have standards of inclusion of proper citations/quotations and attributions to original authors?

    It is academic fraud, plain and simple. The biggest concern to me is that the article paints a picture indicating that this dishonesty is part of the Chinese academic culture.

    It isn't? You can still buy a degree here without needing a "degree mill".
