I love hanging around here but sometimes do it to avoid studying. No graduation to report but there is progress. Switched my Harrison Middleton U program from philosophy/religion to political science, so had to start again and redesign all of my courses. Now happy to report I've completed 12 credits of my 36. This is really tough, trying to get through some abstruse Great Books, not to mention this is done in a totally isolated vacuum.

Y'all are so darn smart I sometimes feel like a dummy, especially when reading posts by the doctoral candidates.

Well Carole, I've seen the program description you're in. I've read a few passages from some of the books on the list. You also speak Greek. You have completed 1/3 of that program! You're smart :)

I certainly don't have a doctorate degree, however, if or when the time comes that I do- I won't need the advice and support of this board like I do now. So, the purpose of the board is to educate and encourage you on your journey- not for the experts to chat among themselves! Join in!

Thanks for the encouragement and kind words. Actually, I speak "Geek," slang for computer techno babble. I've spent 40 years in the computer biz, which is why my degree efforts have been in the Liberal Arts.
    :D
On the other hand, I do speak French, Spanish and Russian, learned enough Swahili to get by. None of that is of much help in deciphering Spinoza!

There's another post in the off-topics section -- a fellow has "math narcolepsy." I think I have Spinoza narcolepsy. There's just something about him and his wretched geometric "proofs" that cause me to .....zzzzzz......
