This may seem like a dumb question, but is there a way to check and see if a phone number is suspect or legit before callling it? There is someone who wants me to call them in Canada, but I am kind of suspicious. And no, this is not related to any of the fine Canadian posters/members from Degreeinfo. Thanks, Abner
Amazingly even in the Great White North, the land of Bob and Doug McKenzie and the Trailer Park Boys, we have telephone directory look-up. < signed > Sagacious Sentinel - Abner sometimes I think you are a walking thesaurus.
Ha ha ha! The only problem is I only have first name and phone number. Abner I think I will try a reverse phone number look up for 95cents, although I am not sure if that will give me the info. I need. Has anyone used www.peoplelookup.com? I will also google like perry said. Abner
There is a reverse look-up feature on the same page. Save your coins for a donation to Arnold, The Governor. ;-)
Just google the number like perrymk stated and you will usually find other people commenting on well known numbers that are scams, collectors, or robo dialers, etc.
I've used various reverse phone lookups more times than I can remember. Most of them say "free" but they're not. Those that are free usually don't tell you what you want to know. Personally, I've never been sufficiently curious to pay a single cent.
Another place I like to look is http://www.theultimates.com/ It's a collection of search engines for name, phone, email. Forward and reverse.
I use switchboard It also has a reverse phone number look up. No cost although it does link to pay-for data bases.
