If you are at all interested in geophysics you can join the AGU as an associate member for $20 per year or as a student member for $7 per year.

Keep up to date on geophysics from climate change to planetary sciences

You receive Eos (AGUs newspaper) weekly by mail, plus you get free subscription to Physics Today published monthly by the American Institute of Physics.

Probably the best deal around for membership in a professional socity.

Possibly AGU membership is a "resume booster" for some jobs.

AGU is noted for the unusually low costs of membership, and for relatively low-priced technical publications. Furthermore, members get a 30% discount on publications. People looking for AGU technical books or maps often discover that it is cost-effective to join as a member, because the publication discount more than offsets the membership fee.

Not sure it qualifies as a resume booster though. If you work in geology or geophysics, then everyone is a member anyway; if you work in some other field, then nobody knows about it.
