Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University does not have a football team but their air force will beat other university air forces (perhaps exempting the AF Academy and the Mojave Test Pilot School). From the ERAU web site: The University's fleet of 95 instructional aircraft includes the following models: American Champion Decathlon, Cessna 150, Cessna 172, Cessna 172S, Cessna 182RG, Diamond DA42, Piper PA28R Arrow, and Piper PA44 Seminole. Embry-Riddles 36 simulators/flight training devices include the following models: Cessna 172 CPT, Frasca 141, Frasca 142, Frasca AdvATD, Frasca C172 G1000 Level 6 FTD, Frasca C172 Level 6 FTD, Frasca CRJ Level 6 FTD, Frasca DA42, Frasca PA44 Level 5 FTD, Frasca PA44 Level 6 FTD, Jeppesen FS200AC PCATD, and Thales A320 FBS.
We also have more than our fair share of astronauts with Daniel Burbank, B. Alvin Drew, Ronald Garan Jr., Nicole Stott (who is currently orbitting above us on the ISS) and Terry Virts Jr currently in the program and Susan Kilrain as a former astronaut. Check out the difference in sheer number of aircraft. For example, OU's aviation program sports approximately 13 aircraft and Southeastern Oklahoma State University's program sports about 18.
Ian - I'm surprised to find you engaged in that old "my air force is bigger than your air force" stuff. You're such a guy.
oh sure, now size matters..... apparently ERAU has a couple of doctorates pending approval by SACS. Good for them.
I posted the OP since it is college football season (although I do not follow that sport). Re the doctorates: ERAU has two in place already - do you know of others?
Teams from the non-RA non-BCS conferences might not get into the national championship game, but they have their moments of excitement nevertheless. Can the SEC match this sexy mach-2 number returning from it's college's "class graduation bombing flight"? ...I wonder what the Florida Gators did at their graduation. http://www.sci.fi/~fta/drakens-3.htm
Nope, the two just received approval and were announced by ERAU in July 09. So, it seems I'm a little behind. Good for them. ERAU News Release
