CSUDH has offered degrees or certificates in Orthotics and Prosthetics for several years

and has now opened up a center at a nearby VA hospital

When I lived near the CSDUH campus I was going to volunteer with this program but now live too far away.
No distance learning here but this program serves a critical need.

This has to be Cal State Dominguez Hills' coolest and most prestigious offering. No conventional DL but lots of instruction at remote sites. The bachelors degree seems to be three years taught on the CSUDH campus, then a fourth intensive clinical practice year that they are now holding at the big Long Beach VA Medical Center.

Here's an interview with graduate of the program who's employed by the Army at Walter Reed, describing his educational background, what he does, and why he got into it. He reports that when he was at CSUDH, the orthotics program was only accepting ten students every two years. (A DL angle: it seems that this gentleman is currently working on a DL doctorate from TUI University.)

Combat injuries in Iraq and Afghanistan have focused the Veterans Administration's attention on orthotics and prosthetics. (The VA is the world's largest provider of O&P services.) They say that there are currently nine university programs in the subject and that the VA's entered into a contractual arrangement with CSUDH that's led to CSUDH's clinical year being held in their hospital. CSUDH will apparently be providing continuing education training to VA personnel as well.
