    Howdy Folks!

I'm in the process of putting together my first syllabus for a college course. I've done syllabi for high school courses, but this one was somewhat daunting. I had obtained two copies of syllabi for the course: one from the full-time instuctor at the community college and the other from the instructor who does the course through the community college online. The curriculum was almost the same, though there were a few differences. The largest differences I found were in the number and type of assignments.

I felt as if the on campus class had very few assignments. While the course is a 200 level course, I would expect students to have to do a little bit of work. The distance class had about the same amount of assignments, though they were completely different in nature. I understand we're supposed to use the same course description and curriculum, even for my high school section of the class. However, I'm wondering if I'm going overboard in creating assignments.

For those of you who teach community college classes, whether online or on campus, what is your assignment load like? I'd be interested to compare my ideas with others.

For the record, this is for the US Government survey course, first semester.

    Thanks,
    Matt
