    Hello Everyone!

My wife and I have entered our daughter, Reagan, in a 4th of July baby contest in Wilmington, DE. I'm asking for your help in voting for her. Reagan's picture is below.

Essentially all you have to do is send an email to [email protected] and put "Baby Contest" in the subject line. Then, in the body of the email, indicate that you'd like to vote for "Reagan Brent".

The rules state that you can vote once per email address. Not that I'm telling anyone to mass vote, but if you're like me and have an email address for each school you're attending, you could vote a few times.

If you'd like to see the actual website for the contest, go to http://www.ci.wilmington.de.us/July4th/baby_contest.htm

We'd appreciate any votes you all would be willing to cast. I'll post back later with the results, and hopefully I'll have good news!

    Please vote by July 1st.

    Thanks!
    Matt

Hi, Matt! I cast my vote for Reagan Brent for the Cutest Baby contest. By the way, is Reagan's middle name Ilona? Or am I confusing her with some other internet acquaintance's daughter?

Close, Ted. Her middle name is Iliana. Yeah, I'm the history geek. Her name literally means "The little ruler of Troy". (And if you add the Brent in there, it's "from atop a big hill")

Thanks everyone who's voted so far.

I thought I had remembered someone announcing the birth of a daughter named Reagan Ilona (or something close thereto) but I could not remember whether it was someone from the history forums (perhaps historum.com) or whether it was a fellow history major from here. But I remember that the names meant something like "a ruler" and "woman of Troy (Ilios)" and "upon a hill."

Yes, that was most likely me. And now my baby girl is 17 months old and trying to win a baby contest :) My... how time flies!

I took POLS 516 - Border Issues in US/Mexico Relations and POLS 505 - American Constitutional Development in the spring. I'm currently taking HIST 523 - Railroad History and will be taking POLS 508 - World Politics in July.

For the fall I've signed up for HIST 578 - Age of Marshall and HIST 580 - Cowboys and Presidents.

    Cutie!

Or in the case of Teddy and Reagan, Cowboy/President at the same time!

She got my vote(s). Vote early and vote often...isn't that what they say?

I had to decline my acceptance for Spring 2009 for lack of financial aid (I was going to take HIST 516: Border Issues and the course on US/Latin American Relations - bought the books but didn't actually take the courses ... though I will take them when re-offered ). Having gotten re-accepted with financial aid for Summer 2009, I'm currently taking HIST 514: History of the Southwest and POLS 520: Latin American Economic Development. Haven't yet registered for Fall 2009.

Good deal. Just remember that since you already have a masters degree, your program will only be 30 credits instead of 36.

What a cute girl! she has my vote. Keep us updated and let us know if she won the contest. My brother's daughter also took part in a local baby contest and she was third and got some clothes and sweets as prize.

    She won!

I would like to thank each of you who voted for my daughter via email. She won first place in the contest!

She'll be featured in the Delaware Newsjournal in the next few days. We also get to take to her a photoshoot with this very fancy photographer, so we're very excited about that.
