    Howdy folks!

My ten year high school reunion is coming up next year, and I've taken a few steps to get us started in the planning of it. I created a Facebook group to reconnect people. I know that tradiationally the reunions are supposed to be planned by the class officers, which I was not. However, working at our high school, I might have access to records which can help us track people down. But that's a different issue :)

I'd like to ask some of our more experienced members what they did at their high school reunions. What type of activities did you all do? Please share!

    Thanks!
    Matt

Boy Matt, you are young. LOL. My 25 year reunion is in August. Our reunion chair ( she has been doing this on our 5, 10, 20 and this one) uses, Facebook, Myspace and Classmates. She is also using snailmail. It seems to be working. I think she is having more luck on Facebook, since most of my class is on there.

    Activities:

My 10 year we had a DJ ( who played Country and that was it. Yeeckk). We had a sorta buffet style meal. I stayed for three hours because we were bored.
My 20 year we had a three course sit down meal, a dance after that and mostly mingle session. I lasted three hours again for the wife had fallen down on the pavement coming home from work. She was in serious pain.
    My 25..who knows...LOL

The good people who were in charge of the Fruita Monument High School class reunions did not even contact me until the 20-year reunion (2000). I promptly informed them that since they had not bothered to contact me re previous reunions, they could just drop dead.

My ten year reunion was a couple years ago, and we had it at a nightclub in the southside of downtown Pittsburgh, PA. Our senior class president owns a majority stake in Club Diesel in Pittsburgh, so he was able to offer the venue. I graduated from a fairly small high school south of Pittsburgh (~100 or so graduates) and a little over half of them showed up.

It was a little strange to have it at a nightclub, but overall I was happy with it. We really didn't do any activities other than utilize a dance floor and an open bar, which led to some funny scenes. For the most part we all just spent the evening catching up with each other and socializing.

My wife suggested that we have it at the school. Because I'm a teacher, I could get the building with no problem. The down side to that is we couldn't serve alcohol. That wouldn't be an issue with me, but I'm sure the majority of the crowd would want a drink or two.

Lancaster is very rural. There aren't really any venues, except for a small fire hall. At this point I'm just trying to think of activities. In other words, do we go for dinner, a dance, a meet and greet...? I formed a group of facebook, and we have 13 people so far. We had about 100 in my class. I'll see what they say, but in the mean time, I'd appreciate any feedback and/or suggestions!

    Thanks!

VFW, American Legion post? Some small towns use the local National Guard Armory in this neck of the woods.

Typical for my highschool, we had a keg party at a park. I guess somethings never change....I would have loved for someone else (besides the officers) to plan our reunions.

    Hi Ted,

Ditto here. My high school has never contacted me, even though my info is readily available online. Of course, given that I was a metal head in high school and nearly everyone hated or ignored me (since I wasn't a part of the "in" crowd), I'm not surprised in the least!
