OK, the Alabama plagiarism situation has me curious. I assume voting is anonymous here.

Yep, I sure did. Back in high school I did not cite my sources and commited that most horrid of academic sins. Although that was before I knew how to cite sources or even that you had to. ;)

I think that applies to probably all of us. I did too. And like you, I didn't know we had to. I remember my teachers would just tell us we would have to say what books or encyclopedias we looked at and put them on our bibliography page and that was all we had to do. Now I'm a citation nazi. I always tell my students, when in doubt, cite it!

    Hi Dr. Bear,

Yes, I plagiarized in high school during the late 70s and early 80s. I didn't know what the requirements were for citing back then.

I guess, I'll have to turn myself into the high school principle and surrender my high school diploma. Yea right!! :)

I have not committed an act of plagiarism since.

I have back in high school also (early to mid 80s) but more out of ignorance and lack of caring. I am so paranoid now; I run my own work through TurnItIn.com just to be sure!
