So I am sitting there in a little sidewalk cafe reading my org behavior book. I was looking around and made eye contact with some guy. We started talking about different things. Anyway, in the conversation, his baldness came up. I was confused because this dude was not bald. I guess he had some hair transplants that helped him avoid baldness. He told me his whole story. He went to the infomercial Dr. Bosely (one of the chain Doctors) who left a huge strip scar in the back of his skull. They do not show this on the commercial. He then said he went to a HT Doctor who repaired his scar and further filled in his hairline using a method call FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction). He said this method does not involved cutting out a huge strip of flesh from the back of the head, but merely involves individual follicles being extracted and implanted in another area, much like a farmer planting seeds.

I tell you ladies and gents, I looked up close at this guys hair, and it looked a 100% natural.

So although I have a thick head of hair and do not need an HT, I would like to post this for those that may be thinking of strip procedure. Don't do it according to the chap I was talking to. Go for the FUE method.

This is my public service announcement.

    See ya,

    Abner :)

I read years ago that apparently the Bosley operation sucks people in and promises the world, but never delivers with the first round of surgery, and then, when the client is unhappy, sells them more surgery.

There were other complaints, including inadequately trained physicians doing the transplants, and all sorts of other things.

I've come to realize that practically anything sold on an informercial can be had for a lot less money (and often better quality) by somebody else that doesn't advertise as aggressively.

Well at first I didn't believe the guy, I kept saying "No way", you are bullshiting me, there is no way that is a transplant". He then pulled out an old picture of him bald, then I believed him. According to this guy, if the right docs do FUE, there is no "doll head" look.

I also agree with you about the infomercial type stuff.

    Have a good weekend!

Now the really surprising thing is that I went over to
    www.hairlosshelp.com/forums/
and the main thing they are writing about is distance learning degrees.

Perhaps we should seek hair loss treatment centers as a sponsor :p :p :p

My wife watches John & Kate Plus Eight and on one episode John had the hair surgery done. I'm not sure which kind, but you can notice a difference.

As a 20-something guy, I'd totally opt for the surgery if I had the money. Damn genetics!

Until I saw it with my own eyes, I would never have believed it. I guess the key is going to the right doctor and going with FUE (minimally invasive), and will not leave a huge fish mouth scar in the back of your head. This guy told me everything. I guess he had to vent. Prior to his good FUE surgery, he went through hell because of infomercial surgery butchers. I guess the guy just needed someone to talk to to. He looks damn good now though!

Nothing looks dumber and more incongruous than an old guy with a luxurious head of hair. It doesn't match the lines and wrinkles well. The older I get, the thinner my hair gets, the shorter I cut it. Nothing feels better than a buzz cut in the summer when you can wash your head with a washcloth. I only wish I had the type of head where I could just Bic it. As it is tennis ball length is all I dare for now. Why fight mother nature. Accept it.
