I'm just curious if anyone else uses the Wii Fit? My wife and I bought it months ago, but because our baby started crawling, we haven't used it. We just started up again a couple of days ago and it says I'm overweight, though I don't think I am. I was just wondering if anyone else used it.

A CPA I work with once in a while was telling me that he has one and that he likes it very well.

My 8 yr old granddaughter was playing tennis on the wii last summer so much that when we went out to play the real thing she couldn't. Some sort of repetitive motion ailment. The same thing happened to my 22 yr old son last week. He got a wii and the tennis module for his birthday from his girlfriend. He overdid it and strained his arm.

Anyway, personally, I don't see the need for it. A set of barbells, a bike, some rollerblades and you're in business. Does it register BMI? Is that why it says you're overweight? BMI is bunk...I'm 6' and 188, the BMI would say I'm overweight. I'm not. Take it with a grain of salt. If you think you're not overweight you're probably not. For fun you can take a bodyfat analysis, that's a better measure.

My mother has one and she uses it all the time. My nephew loves it. He's 7.

I've used it when I visit and like it. It's fun.

I wouldn't care what it says about your weight. It's good excercise and it's fun.

This is true but the game part of it adds to the fun factor. Besides, it gets people who are normally couch potatoes (note - I realize there are also a lot of people who play video games who aren't spuds) to do something.

About eight years ago, our gym had bikes set up with a game module that allowed you to race the person on the next bike. That made for some good times for the wife and me.

We tried out a Wii for the first time on the most recent New Year's Eve. I'll admit I was a bit sore from the yoga portion.

We have a Wii and Wii Fit. It is good. If you stick to it, you can lose weight. Do I use it? Umm no. I run 50 miles a week and although it could help, I dont. My wife does..every once in a while. The tennis makes you sore as does the baseball.

Yes, it uses BMI, which is why it says I'm overweight. I know BMI doesn't take into consideration fat vs. muscle mass. I'm not really interested in the weight part though. I just think it's an interesting concept. The more you do the Wii Fit, the more you unlock in terms of activities. I actually like the balance activities. The running activities are neat too because you see other Miis running with you.

I know Matt. My BMI tells me that I am overweight to almost obese. I am 5'5 and 157 pounds. I run 50 mile a week and most of it at a 7:15 pace striding. LOL Even Dr Oz says that a little overweight is ok. He is a runner as well.

I looked up the features on the internet and I guess I don't get it. But I guess as an introduction to training it can be a good thing. I tend to think that when the novelty wears off the couch potatodom returns. As far as weight/fat control though, I don't think you want to depend on exercise, I think the main thing for that is diet.

But hey, this is all from an old guy who's looking for country acreage so I can do fun things like tire flipping and sled dragging.

One of the things I'm liking about Wii Fit is that it keeps track of your progress. It shows how well you're doing as opposed to how horrible you were when you started. (Or at least how horrible I was...) But perhaps the novelty will wear off. The good thing is that there are other "games" for the wii that use the balance board. Jillian Michaels from the Biggest Loser has a training thing that uses the board as well.

A friend with advanced Parkinsons Disease finds the balance exercises immensely helpful.

I'd just like to mention that my 7 year-old son consistently kicks my ass in Wii boxing.

That's alright. My wife creams me in Wii Tennis. Of course, she DID play tennis in high school.

I learned the secret of Wii Tennis is to utilize your forward player as much as possible; if you can get a quick return, it often catches your opponent unprepared.

Then again, this was all learned playing against children, so take it with a grain of salt. :D
