I ordered this gadget and had nothing but headaches with VISTA (which, btw, I've had enough of - g'dbye Vista, wb XP Pro). My other laptop has XP on it and it works like a charm. If you're not familiar with it, it plugs into your USB port, you plug your phone into it and you can make LD calls - unlimited LD for $39/year... ..just thought I'd pass it along (VISTA users take heed, XP - go for it)
I have no problem with it, I have using it for almost a year. It works fine in my XP and Vista. Have you upgraded the Majicjack software? if not here is the link: http://www.magicjack.com/magicfix/
I spent nearly 4 hours trying to get the softphone to work, it simply would not load it. After installing, uninstalling, and applying the upgrade.exe numerous times I had enough. On my XP laptop I have not had any problems which is why I am suggesting to be cautious with Vista - many Vista users have not had their problems resolved.
We've all got vista, and the laptop with the MagicJacks (yes two hehe) has vista as well. The problem we've had is that you have to un-plug and re-plug it every morning because it goes off at night. We've pretty much figured out that the computer goes into sleep mode or hibernate at night (lid closed), which causes it. It's not a problem for us, it means we don't get sales calls at 5am or prank calls at midnight.
