We need a new SUV sometime soon. We drive an 01 Suburban (our second) and enjoy everything about it- would get another in a second- except that they keep getting more expensive. Our first suburban lasted 13 years LOL and this one is getting up in miles (180K). The newer ones are really too much $ for us, so we are looking for something 1-2 years old and closer to $30ish.

So, we need 3 rows (7 seats is fine, 8 is better), and I need leather /heated seats. Does anyone drive something they would suggest? Split third row would be great, but not needed. Also, anything to stay away from? We will be looking for an 07 or 08.

So far, the Saturn Outlook /GMC Acadia / Chevy Traverse have my attention.
    Suggestions??
    Thanks!!

Does it have to be a SUV?

My wife absolutely loves her Honda Odyssey; seating for 8, leather, heated seats, power sliding doors, GPS, power moonroof, and a ton of other convenient features. It also has the V-TEC engine, which produces something like 240hp....it has plenty of power.

Hondas are great cars. Hardly ever break down, if they do at all.

We love Hondas. We used to have a Prelude (before kids) and then my hubby drove a Civic for years to work. Yes, it has to be an SUV because we tow in the summer. (that and my husband would rather die than drive a minivan LOL)

I used to feel the same way, but have sinced embraced the "loser cruiser". :D

With your list of specs, I would have to say the Suburban is your best bet, since Ford stopped making the Excursion. With the economy circling the bowl, you may be able to get a really good deal on one right now.

    Jennifer,

what type(weight) of towing capacity? This need might limit your options.

But, with used prices dropping like a boy scout with a case of the runs trousers I would recommend any Suburban (look for one coming off lease). You want at least the 5.3 motor for gas mileage, anything larger will be a bank account hurter. I also recommend staying away from flex-fuel and Active Fuel Management (AFM). I have one of these sorry ass motors (new body style Silverado) and due to the hardened components(flex fuel) and the complexity it barely gets 15mpg around town, but does get 22 on the highway. I hate the change in my exhaust note (but this wasn't noticebale until I rednecked the exhaust) when the AFM kicks in and out. But on a side note it makes my Mustang GT the economy car so...darn, I drive the Mustang more....

I wouldn't buy any of the vehicles you listed if I were towing anything substantial. But wander over to this forum and ask away:

and don't forget the dual lighted vanity mirrors. :D

I was talking to a neighbor about her Murano and she was complaining because it didn't have a heated steering wheel like her previous Maxima.

You women sure do have different concerns than us guys (not a bad thing by the way).

Whatever you get, be sure to check out the Consumer Reports ratings before buying.
