Who is Aaron B. Johnson? The only person out of 3,296 entrants in Baseball America's Bracket Challenge who picked Fresno State to make it to the College World Series finals.

ESPN asks: "What kind of health coverage does Fresno State offer?"

Their team boasts torn rotater cuffs, tendinitis, pulled back muscles, dislocated fingers, torn ligaments and broken bones.

But apparently that unorthodox CSU training method works better than anyone supposed. Fresno's supposedly second-tier players battled through their injuries and put up smothering pitching, abundant batting, aggressive base-running and spectacular defensive plays against heavily favored nationally-ranked opponents.

So the scarred and unseeded barnyard Dogs look like they've got Georgia's pedigreed show-Dogs right where they want'em.

Dogs vs Dogs. (I'm starting to feel like Michael Vick.) This is why I love WAC sports.

Wow! Congratulations to Fresno State and all their fans!

I usually follow the College World Series fairly closely, but the Celtics' postseason heroics had my mind elsewhere the last few weeks.

College and minor league baseball are hidden jewels for real fans of the game; the quality of play is excellent and the kids bust their butts every game. I usually catch a couple of Boston College and/or Northeastern games every year in addition to the Pawtucket Red Sox (AAA), Portland Sea Dogs (AA) and the Brockton Rox (Independent).
